If you may recall, two years ago, the Missionaries of the Precious Blood: Atlantic Province held a largely successful dinner gala in support of C.PP.S. Mission Projects, in Vaughan, ON. (For more information about the 2016 Dinner Gala click here.) At the event, among the list of entertaining performances, presenters and projects that were touched upon, was the introduction of the dormitory concept for students attending Ven. John Merlini Secondary School, in Tanzania. Fr. Mario Cafarelli, C.PP.S. invited all attendees to build upon the strong foundation already established, by creating a stronger and even more sustainable environment for our students to learn and thrive in.
Digital renderings (seen below) of what the dormitories would look like were presented and all proceeds from the dinner gala ticket sold that night, including a majority of other donations made at the event, was the starting point for making this initial concept come to reality.
Since then, it has been a long and arduous road, but like all of our past missions and on-going projects, it would not have been made possible without our generous, supportive, compassionate and committed donors!
C.PP.S. Mission Projects, is very proud to announce that dormitory construction is well underway! Since the early months of 2018, the construction for the girls’ dormitories finally began and one of two girls’ dormitories is now completed, only needing to be furnished.
Construction of the second girls’ dormitory has already started, as depicted in the pictures in the slide below, and is estimated to be completed and furnished within two or three months’ time. Immediately following the completion of this dormitory, will be the first of two dormitories for boys.
